Cartwheel News CARTWHEEL NEWS

28.09.2005 - As promised we are returning to the UK for a brief visit as part of our little global trek for 2005: Full details of our international dates can be found over here at the Sneakquencer page, while we’ll be playing dates in our (adopted) homes of Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh during the next couple of weeks – details here. To celebrate, our UK label Valentine Records are reissuing last years Man: In Love With Machine EP - complete with brand new bonus mixes from labelmates Lynskey & The Hi-Fi Renaissance. This will be on sale from October 1st. Additional soundclips are now up in the shop.

05.06.2005 - Lots of Cartwheel related news and updates this week. First of all Carol and David will definitely be returning to the UK during October as part of the European leg of their Autumn World Tour. We’re hoping to confirm a series of gigs around the UK in the coming weeks. To coincide we can now also confirm that the repress of the hugely popular Man: In Love with Machine EP will feature exclusive bonus mixes courtesy of Lynskey and The Hi-Fi Renaissance. As if this wasn’t enough news to be going on with, both members have contributed new solo tracks as part of a fascinating series of conceptual 7”s on the UK/New Zealand based Twenty Bees label. To find out more about the project click here. In the meantime we’ve launched this temporary page where we’ll be posting details of the up coming world trek as and when we get them.

14.11.2004 - Following the success of their epic 25-date European tour, Cartwheel's hotly tipped debut EP Man: In Love With Machine is officially released in the UK this week. However, you'll need to be quick if you want to get your hands on one, as several shops, including Rough Trade, have already sold out on pre-sales alone. An exclusive remix of Nice as Twice can be downloaded free from here. The band themselves are currently enjoying a much-deserved sabbatical back home in sunny Melbourne, Australia - but plan to return to Europe in 2005 for more fun, frivolity and dubious automobile purchases.

12.10.2004 - Cartwheel have finished their tour of Europe/Scandinavia and UK. We played to lots more people than expected and had lots of fun. We owe a massive thankyou to everyone who helped, we will be back next year (whether thats a good thing or bad thing, i don't know). We have sold half our instruments so finance our move back to Australia so our next gig should be sometime before 2010. We also have a tour diary which we will put up on 22/10/2004.

01.08.2004 - Cartwheel are very pleased to announce that we've just signed to UK-based independent label Valentine Records. A brand new four track EP "Man: In Love With Machine" will be released to coincide with our European tour, while they're also stocking this and our last 7" in their online shop.

26.07.2004 - 4 Down, 17 to go! We have 17 gigs booked and we are totally overwhelmed with the help and organisation from around Europe and UK. Our tour will be crazy, you may see us sleeping in our car in a petrol station near you! We are also recording a CD EP which will hopefully be ready in time for our tour through Valentine Records. This site will be revamped and moved to their server in the next few weeks...we are very happy and excited.

12.07.2004 - Well, we have played our first 4 gigs in UK and they went down a treat (sold lots of records for a change). One more gig and then we're off to Europe - little bit nervous, we have no money but a handful of credit cards so if you know any free accomadation anywhere, tell us, otherwise, we're tenting it. Already planning our next adventure for the start of next year: Australian/Japan tour with America's YACHT, Bobby Birdman and Lucky Dragons, if you can help, send us an email!

07.05.2004 - First gig of the tour booked - Utrophia night at 291 Gallery, Hackney, London on Thursday 24th June. Absolutely spectacular venue in a beautiful church converted into an art gallery. Gig booked at Paradiso in Amsterdam on August 10th, Carol's birthday, bring your presents :) thanks to Transformed Dreams.

26.04.2004 - Organising lots of gigs in Europe (Paris, Belguim, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Czech, Germany, Italy, Malta, Spain and Portugal) and UK also. Trying to organise some in Singapore when we pass through on our way home and also in capital Australian cities. Featured on a London compilation coming out next week.

17.12.2003 - We made it to Europe in one piece and are going to try and organise a tour throughout Europe for August/September but we are just happy to be here, although we are missing our instruments. This is our new simplesite because the old one had too much information. Join our email list by clicking below and emailing us. Look out for some local gigs in England and have a nice day....tomorrow.
